RockWare PetraSim 2025.1

PetraSim is the graphical module for the TOUGH2 family of simulators. Developed at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, TOUGH2 and its derivatives are recognized for their powerful simulation capabilities for fluid flow and heat transfer in porous and fractured media.

PetraSim 2025.1 includes TOUGH2 (version 2), T2VOC, TMVOC, and TOUGHREACT (version 1.2) executables.
Other Optional Executables to add:
1.TOUGH v2.1
2.TOUGHREACT v2.0
3.TOUGHREACT v3.32

But TOUGH3 and TOUGHREACT 4.13 are not included and must be purchased through Lawrence Berkeley National Lab.

The TOUGH2 codes have been applied to problems ranging from Yucca mountain groundwater flow to multi-component environmental remediation. PetraSim makes the power of TOUGH2 accessible to modelers through an interactive 3D environment that includes mesh generation, parameter definition, and display of results..

New Features/Improvements in PetraSim 2025.1:
Two-dimensional connection plots are now available for TOUGHREACT v3/4 simulations.

The TOUGHREACT CSV Convertor has been updated to correctly populate the INDEX field in mesh and react CSV files.

The Element Name is now included in the XYZ file created using the File | Write Cell Data tool.  This allows the user to more easily identify elements associate with wells or other features where the elements have been assigned a name.

A Cell-based TecPlot ASCII file export is now available through the 3D Results window.  The .TEC files, including data for each time step, are created for rectangular and polygonal meshes.

A Vector-based TecPlot ASCII file export is now available through the 3D Results window. This feature is supported from Rectangular Meshes only, and includes X,Y, and Z flow components.

Negative values are now allowed for MCYC (under Solution Controls).  A negative MCYC value can be used in TOUGH3 to specify a maximum number of time steps greater than 9999.  If a value of -20 is entered, TOUGH3 will allow 2^20-time steps (1,048,576).  A negative MCYC value should only be used with TOUGH3.  This will cause an error for TOUGH2 simulations.
