Welcome:
Dear Engineers

DNV KFX EXSIM 7.0

KFX/EXSIM is specifically developed for safety-related applications, addressing scenarios such as gas dispersion, fires, explosions, and other industrial challenges. Its features include the porosity technique, Lagrangian model for droplet releases, the ability to handle multiple simultaneous releases in a single model, and seamless integration with Finite Element software for structural response analysis.

Extensive usage and testing in numerous industry studies, both by DNV and external customers, have established KFX as a robust and stable simulator. Furthermore, the software has been developed in close collaboration with industry partners to best understand and address industrial needs efficiently and accurately. Notably, ongoing advancements include an advanced liquid CO2 release model that accounts for complex thermodynamics, two-phase releases, dry-ice formation and deposition, as well as obstacles, terrain, and wind conditions.

KFX and EXSIM 7.0, a major update designed to tackle the challenges related to the energy transition, specifically hazards associated with the handling of CO2, ammonia and hydrogen.

As part of the ongoing integration of EXSIM into the KFX suite, we are migrating towards concurrent releases and unified version numbering. Accordingly, version 7.0 of the KFX suite is the direct successor to KFX 4.0.29 and EXSIM 6.0.

This release brings tools and enhancements in KFX that allow for more accurate multi-phase modelling, including new models for more accurate CO2 modelling (formation and sublimation), a new multi-component spray model to handle absorption of ammonia vapour in water droplets, and improved gas dispersion modelling, including new models for CO2 (solid particles dispersion and particle interaction with solid surfaces).

This release also presents a major upgrade to EXSIM in terms of predictive performance, both for hydrogen and all other available fuel types, stability and speed.
