Datamine Studio RM 2025 v3.0

Studio RM 3.0 introduces a wide range of enhancements, including a new Datamine file format, major plotting improvements, and usability upgrades across drillhole coding, 3D visualisation, and data importing workflows.

At the core of this release is the introduction of Datamine’s new .dmx file format, replacing the legacy .dm format that has underpinned Studio products for over three decades. The .dmx format supports up to 2048 columns and significantly smaller file sizes, enabling you to handle large and complex geological data more efficiently. The format integrates seamlessly with existing workflows, supports table tagging to embed metadata, and includes a batch conversion utility to upgrade legacy files. Studio products now generate .dmx files by default, while retaining the ability to read both formats.

Plotting has been completely overhauled with dedicated ribbons for each plot item, such as projections, title boxes, and north arrows, making formatting and content management more intuitive. The Plots (Manage) and Plots (View) ribbons have been combined for easier navigation, and new features like cell managers improve editing within title boxes. Additionally, new commands allow you to combine up to 20 wireframes in one process, convert text files to Datamine files via INTEXT, and clip strings to wireframe surfaces or volumes.

This release also enhances drillhole coding with the Assign Lithology command’s new Paint mode, allowing interactive application of attribute values to multiple drillhole segments. Coding changes now update instantly in implicit modelling displays, and new shortcuts accelerate lithology assignment workflows. The COMPDH process has been expanded to support residual outputs, while the 3D window now uses Render on Demand and smart clipping options to optimise performance when working with large datasets.

Other notable improvements include the Text Importer for streamlined multi-file ASCII imports with scenario saving, a preview release of filled wireframe intersection visualisation to better emulate solid volumes in cross section, and a wide range of interface updates such as a new dark theme, updated icons, and a refined New Project Wizard. Overall, Studio RM 3.0 lays a strong foundation for handling increasingly demanding projects while improving day-to-day productivity and data management flexibility.
