Bing Maps replaced with Google Maps
Google Maps is now available as a replacement for Bing Maps. This new feature will significantly enhance your experience with the background map displayed as context.
Google Maps provides extensive, up-to-date, detailed coverage, displayed as background map context. It provides better-quality satellite and aerial images.
You can manage the display of Google Maps from either the Geospatial Context ribbon, the View Control bar, or by attaching it through Raster Manager.

Geospatial Feature Enhancements
- Ability to support 3DTiles format in MicroStation 2025
MicroStation 2025 now supports the 3DTiles format through the Reality Management portal, accessible via Reality Mesh Attachments.
You can attach 3DTiles from the Geospatial Context workflow, in the Reality Mesh Attachments dialog by clicking on the Open Reality Management Browser. The Reality Management Browser lists all the reality mesh files available to be attached to MicroStation. In addition to the Web Ready 3D Scalable Mesh, you will notice the new 3DTiles type listed. You can select a 3DTiles file and click OK to attach the file to MicroStation.
This enhancement brings the following key benefits:- Advanced Visualization: Experience high-quality, interactive 3D visualizations directly within MicroStation.
- Seamless Integration: Easily attach 3DTiles, streamlining your workflow.
- Enhanced Performance: Efficiently handles large datasets, ensuring smooth and responsive interactions.
For more information, please visit the Reality Mesh Files Support page.
- Esri ArcGIS Feature Services – Cell Fixed Size
A new feature Cell Fixed Size has been added to the Cell Settings in the Properties section of the Element Templates dialog. This will significantly enhance your experience with point features attached through Esri ArcGIS Feature Services. With the implementation of Cell Fixed Size in the MicroStation Element Templates, the cell size will now remain constant on your screen, regardless of zoom level, ensuring a more consistent and user-friendly visualization experience.
When querying the Esri ArcGIS Feature Service point cell layer, the point size defined in the Esri Service will be automatically set in the MicroStation Element Templates as the Cell Fixed Size property. You can adjust the size value as needed.Cell Fixed Size functionality is also available when working with WFS and OGC API features.
Ability to select a named Vertical Coordinate System after choosing a Horizontal Coordinate System
Vertical Datum is renamed to Vertical Coordinate System. Previously, MicroStation offered five settings for the Vertical Coordinate System: Ellipsoid, Geoid, NGVD29, NAVD88, and LocalEllipsoid. In this update, certain existing settings are automatically upgraded to the new Vertical Coordinate System.
You can now select a named Vertical Coordinate System after choosing a Horizontal Coordinate System in the same latitude-longitude region as the Horizontal Coordinate System, instead of just picking a keyword (such as ‘Ellipsoid’ or ‘Geoid’) to describe how elevation should be interpreted in the project.
RealDWG 2026 Support
MicroStation 2025 is now updated to support RealDWG 2026, the latest RealDWG engine for best compatibility. Custom objects and object enablers are also supported.
Automated Crash Report
In this update, the MicroStation Crash report will be sent automatically to Bentley Systems with a timeout period of 90 seconds. If you prefer not to send the Automated crash report, you may uncheck the option Automated Crash Reporting on the Installer page, Features section during installation. By default, the option is On.
About Technology Preview Features
(Technology Preview) Ability to use Python Assistant in the Python Editor dialog
Python Assistant is installed as an optional application during the installation of MicroStation. If you do not wish to install it, you can uncheck the Python Assistant (Technology Preview) checkbox on the Features page during installation.
(Technology Preview) Support for Google 3D
- Understand an area
- Confidently navigate to a location
- Evaluate new places to make decisions
- Understand how the real-world changes
(Technology Preview) Ability to attach 3D Tiles Point Cloud (JSON) files in the Point Cloud Dialog (Realty Management type PNTS)
(Technology Preview) Increased efficiency with Point Cloud Optimization
The output efficiency is now increased with point cloud optimization. This helps in reducing the rendering time; the zoom-in, zoom-out, and other actions can be performed more efficiently. The point cloud optimization applies to Web Ready Point Clouds (OPC) and 3D Tiles Point Clouds (JSON).
(Technology Preview) Ability to create a new configuration
You can now create new custom configurations using the new Create tool available in the Manage Configuration dialog (WorkPage > Manage Configuration).
(Technology Preview) Ability to constrain angles between elements to be equal
(Technology Preview) Ability to create an Associative array
While constructing an Array of elements you can now create an association between the parent and the child elements in the Array. A new check-box is available in the Construct Array dialog. If turned on, this setting creates an association between the parent and child elements such that when the parent element is changed, the child elements in the array get modified accordingly. You can manage the properties of the array using the Properties pane or the Explorer dialog.
The Associative Array, element marker is also now available in the View Attributes > Presentation > Markers section. If this marker is On, you will see markers enabled on the Parent and child elements in the design file. You can manage the arrays with these markers.
(Technology Preview) Availability of OGC API Feature Service in MicroStation
- Enhanced Interoperability: Seamlessly connect and interact with various geospatial data sources, ensuring smooth data exchange and collaboration.
- Improved Efficiency: Access and manage geospatial features directly within MicroStation, streamlining workflows and reducing the need for external tools.
- Scalability: Handle large datasets with ease, leveraging the robust capabilities of OGC API Feature Service to support complex projects.
- Standard Compliance: Adhere to industry standards for geospatial data, promoting consistency and reliability in your projects.
